I don’t want to sound viciously ungrateful. Given how much pain and suffering I’ve seen firsthand in the world, I know how lucky I am. But I’m just going to go ahead and say it. 2014 can kiss my ass; on both a personal, professional, and planetary level.
This was the perpetual year of massive personal problems, family battling through major life challenges, severe issues with work, and so on. Oh, and don’t forget how much fun it’s been for our floating rock lately. Remember how much fun Ukraine, ebola, gagman, ISIS/ISIL/IDIOTS, politics, and blimp attacks have been? Wasn’t all that fun! Gee, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next.
Accept I will. I’ll see it all. We all will. Because odds are, if you’re foolish enough to have read this post this far, you’re probably not checking-out to Valhalla in 2015. And I’m probably not either. Just as with 2014, hiding under a pile of coats and hoping it somehow all works out is not an option.
And so friends, let’s keep going, let’s battle on. For ourselves, our families, our planet, and each other. We always have a choice to quit in mind and/or body, but let’s choose to do our best again. And be thankful for the opportunity to do so.
Hello 2015, you may suck too, but not until I’ve had a shot at you.
